No blue essence recieved from shard disenchant

I just finished the quest that rewards you a key and hextech chest from winning with pyke on your team. my reward was a kennen shard. When I went to disenchant it I didn't receive any blue essence but the shard disappeared this happened literally just a few minuets ago so I tried restarting my client to see if that would fix the problem now I cant even log in.
