Remake bug?

Was playing a ranked game today when we experienced a weird remake bug. Our master yi was not connected, however, at 3 minutes we attempted to remake and all got the message "remake is only for when one or more players disconnect" (something along those lines). Basically YI was disconnected but we could not remake. About 8 minutes later the announcement that master yi reconnected was broadcasted, meaning that he was never connected at the beginning. So why couldn't we remake? Is this a bug, or am I not correctly understand something? Thank you
