Choosing a champion but not locking in before the timer hits zero sometimes dodges

I can usually pick but not lock in to maximize the available time to choose runes/skins/etc., but sometimes the client considers this a dodge, booting me out of the lobby and giving me a dodge penalty. It's pretty annoying.
