Within 1 month, i believe i've only received one key, if that. I would like some explanations or a gift of some keys for the lack of supply from you guys considering i have played multiple games within the month, alot of them being ranked. (Ranked should give keys faster btw :P)
There has been no official data released regarding drop rates, it also varies from player to player. It may be that you have yet to reach your key frag reset day and are towards the end of your month.
Key fragments are handed out occasionally when you win games.
When asked about specifics on key fragment drop rates, Wingfield explained they key drop rates are not linear and the rates reset each month: "Hey all, Just want to help clarify some things about key drop rates: Key drop rates are NOT linear and only wins have a chance of dropping a key. So you will earn key fragments much faster in your earlier wins than you will in your later wins. Or said another way, each incremental key fragment drop is harder than the last (on average... there is variance). This resets on a monthly basis for each player individually. The goal is to create a nice ebb and flow. Grade does NOT impact key drop chance. Premades DO increase drop chance. Hope that helps clarify " (source)
The only way to increase your key fragment drop rate is to play in a premade. A user on Reddit estimated that the rate increased by as much as 5% when playing in a 5man (not definitive, drop rate varies for each player).
The reason behind the low drop rate is to make the system appeal to casual players as well as hardcore players, as explained by Telecasterdude HERE. Ranked shouldn't give keys faster as that would defeat the purpose.
