Hey, I just played an aram game where I kept getting the ult from Malzahar split second after I null sphered him. I saw the ball hit him; however, it did not prevent/cancel his ult.
I was wondering if this was a known issue or if it has been reproduced anywhere else. I'll join up if someone wants to test with me.

Kassadin and pretty much every assassin who used to have a silence now have an interrupt instead. (Because there's something distinctly un-fun about not being able to cast anything to defend yourself as any squishy against a 100-0 burst assassin.) Interrupts explicitly cancel channeled abilities like Malzahar's staring contest, Vel'Koz's learn beam, etc. The issue in this case is probably that Malzahar does not instantly begin channeling; there's a split second where even though you have casted the ult and it is on cd, the effect and channeling status I presume is not applied, ergo the interrupt does not work. If the Null Sphere is hitting him full laser staring contest mode and nothing happens then something is up.

kJs1 votesIt has a channel bar and is considered a channel ability like a Katarina ult, who also supresses herself for the damage.
Zombiemaster1 votesIf he is ulting AFTER you hit him with Null Sphere, then this is not a bug. Null Sphere will only cancel channels, but it does not prevent them, so if the Malzahar waited until after Null Sphere hit him then his ultimate will still go off.
However, if Null Sphere hit Malzahar after he started ulting, then yes the ultimate should be canceled.
kJs1 votesKeep in mind Malz ult has a slight 0.25 second-ish delay before the start of the channel. So if you hit him during the wind-up you won't cancel it.
