Kindred ult acting odd towards assists

So I was playing jinx, kindred was caught out, and being the greedy person I am, I shoot my jinx ult into kindred to steal the kill. My ult hits her right before her ult wears off. When my teammates kill her, I receive no gold, no assist, however jinx's passive "Get Excited!" was activated. Not sure if this was an intended interaction, and because I did no actual damage I got no gold, but even providing a movement speed boost to someone that then gets a kill gives you an assist. If I am overlooking something as to why this happened please explain
