Anivia's E

So here's the story...

I was playing mid lane Anivia in some normal games with a few of my friends. I got matched up against a Katarina . After landing a sweet Flash Frost (Q) I walked up to do a nice double damage Frostbite (E). While my Frostbite was in mid air Katarina used Shunpo on me. I noticed my Frostbites animation fly past where she was, and Kata would appear behind me with no extra damage done. I know her Shunpo reduces the amount of damage revived, but all of it, and "dodging" it on a non-skill shot? Is this a normal thing, or a bug?
