We're unable to log you in because you may be offline (8.21)

So long story short is: When I open the league client the username, password and login button are grayed out, with the message "We're unable to log you in because you may be offline" written in red at the top. After a few minutes of waiting the buttons become normal, and i can log in. After that I can see the league client for a few seconds (10 - 15) and then it says it needs to update. In the update it tells me that i may be offline and that attempting to reconnect has failed. What do I do about this? Is it just a bug with the patch? (but this is highly unlikely because your' official site says that client and game are up)
