League Dims Out After Selecting Champion or Spell

After selecting a summoner's spell or champion on the champion select the entire league client dims out and can no longer be used. It's some what like if you got a prompt that the match is ready or received something. When this occurs my friend and I can't even close it normally and have to task manager to force it closed. This has happened in both ARAM and Summoner's Rift in both instances. One of the events in Summoner's Rift it was dimmed out as soon as we joined the champion select and thus could not pick a champion. We tried minimizing but no change; then we tried reopening but it just assumes we dodged and counts it as such.
