4.21 Mac Client Game Crash

Gets Colder·12/10/2014, 8:23:54 PM·14 votes·9,481 views

[CRASH] (sorry Riot, forgot to put it in the title)

Edit: For some reason I've had 0 crashes today and am very pleased. Rito maybe made a hot fix for the problem I was having. The solution might have been to be directly connected to to your wifi. That might sound strange but there are devices that basically annex your wifi to cover a larger area that you wouldn't have achieved with your own router. So what Im trying to say is use the wifi that your router originally emits.

Quick Intro: I have had a recent increase in Mac client game crashes during gameplay and in the champion loading screen. I have around 2-5 crashes every game after the recent patch. I understand that Riot has made a thread/discussion about Mac client but I felt that this issue deserves its own discussion. My computer information is below.

Summary: The in-game crashes occur at around 7 min (about the time your blue buff respawns if you started there). I know this because I recorded the times of the crashes for about 10 games and they seem to take place at 7 min. When you reconnect, the times will vary much more and its harder to set an estimate. It is almost certain that you will crash atleast 2 times in every game after this patch. The strange thing is that the game runs smoothly the entire time with 80 fps and 50-60 ping. The game just freezes for 5 sec and crashes. (sometimes the games just goes black after it freezes and I have to restart but it's very rare)

  • After game crashes I will be met first by the the "League Of Legends Problem report ", which if I recall is new, since i haven't ever seen this type of crash window before. I put the text as an attachment if it is of any use.
  • Once you exit that window you will see the Lolclient with the reconnect button and 2 Bugsplats. Im not sure if having 2 bugsplats is unusual but I have never had this before so I will say it anyways. Another weird thing with the Bugsplats is that you can only see that the applications are open but you never see the window that allows you to report to Riot.
  • Once I exit out of the Bugsplats I press reconnect and then repeat.

Conclusion: If anyone has this problem or anything similar I would love if you would reply so I know that it's not just me. If anyone has any solutions I would love to hear them. If you have come this far summoners I thank you and hope that we will be back on the rift soon.

My computer information: OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1 MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Graphics- Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB

I'm having the same problem as well. Additionally last night I would get stuck at 100% at the loading screen on my other account, but never join the game. I let it sit for 5 minutes at 100%, and relogged but it didn't change anything.

Im surprised you can even play a PC game with only integrated graphics. Kudos to RIto for even getting the game to run on that junk macbook.

Who still uses Apple products? I thought that technology passed away with the 95 year olds that used it.

Have exactly the same problem in ranks as of the winter ori patch login screen. I am on a macbook air mid 2012 with same other specs, poro king gamemode seemed to work fine

I also have the same problem after patch 4.21. I play on a MacBook Air, and I can go through champ select and the loading screen alright, but the moment I go into a game, I will start crashing every 5 minutes or so. These problems just make LOL a lot less fun, and if these problems continue and aren't fixed, I don't see the point in continuing to play.

I have literally the same problem. I just moved very far from home and can't play games on my PC rig anymore (because it's at home) and am only left with my MBP. it still runs Pro Tools and photoshop great btw for all the apple haters, much better than any of my PCs ever did......

Same problem, this is incredibly frustrating, and unless my team is already well ahead, lets the other team take the advantage.

I have a newly developed loading screen problem.

Had a much high occurrence of the firewall bug, it has occurred 5 times in two loads. I haven't been able to get into match.

When the firewall bug happens, the screen stays black with just that pop-out. It prevents me from alt-tabbing out of it and I have to emergency shutdown and restart my comp (macbook pro 2010 with most recent os) I also sometimes have the loading screen load and then I reach 100% and get dc'd, despite being connected to the internet. This gives the pop-up about losing connection, which is false.

This was not a steady problem prior to this patch.

This is happening to me as well. Extremely frustrating, I thought it was my computer. Very relieved to hear that this is happening to others as well.

I've been having this problem constantly. iMac 2010 (21.5" Core i3). Client patch 4.21. The client will login and everything, but once a game starts I can play for about 7-8 minutes and then it crashes. I try to reconnect only to have the issue repeated. I have to avoid playing League until I hear of a patch because I don't want to risk getting flagged by the Leaver Buster. Please look at these posts and do something to address this issue Riot.

I've been having a lot of the same problems. Mine just started last night. Was able to play about 4 games and in the middle of the last one, had a massive lag spike that broke connection for me and the other people in my Skype call. We weren't able to do anything internet wise while this was happening and then it just stopped and everything worked again. Didn't think much of it. Tried playing ranked game. Every thing was fine until after champ select. No loading screen just black. Tried over and over to connect but nothing. No bugsplat or anything just a big black screen. Running on a mac 10.9 mavericks. Never had problems like this and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having trouble although it sucks for us. Running repair on the client on the moment. Hopefully we get news about this soon.

Looks like listening to dubstep doesn't stop this from crashing.

I'm having not the same problems but my client and launcher simply don't open anymore. I played League monday evening and now it just won't open anymore. Riot I hope this is fixable, please.

Same for me.

Tremlin Grendel12/11/2014, 5:23:02 AM1 votes

While it's not Mac related in my case, I am also experiencing client crashes.

TennisHunter12/11/2014, 7:01:14 AM1 votes

I would love for them to fix it but i think they need to rehand it off to someone like Boompje again so that it is a team only devoted to mac.

PROBLEM

I also have a launcher issue. Whenever I click the icon to open league, it does the regular thing: show the "League Of Legends" logo. After that, a window pops up asking for LoLPatcher to allow incoming network connections (which normally does not happen). I click Allow and the window closes. However, after that, nothing happens. Even if I click deny, the same thing happens. I have been having this happen around the time patch 4.21 came out. Does anyone have any solutions?

Shiropon12/12/2014, 5:59:12 AM1 votes

I got the same problem here. But its not that bad on crashing. The version of my Macbook is OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 but I'm having a new problem and its the LoL Launcher screen just an hour ago. The problem is that when its trying to update it automatically quits on its own without a "An unexpected error occurred" screen tab. So I dunno what to do. Do I have to update my Mac to Yosemite? Thanks in advance :)

youroldflipphone12/14/2014, 7:01:39 AM1 votes

just update your Adobe Flash player and Adobe Air client. you should be fine

niln112/10/2014, 9:51:19 PM1 votes

And I cannot update patch todayGaren

DrJob3/14/2015, 2:34:14 AM1 votes

I play lol on mac and it keeps crash and I was banned from the game. so bad! I would like to remove this game!

Bread Bull1/11/2015, 9:55:29 AM

Yeah same... Every game I play I usually DC between 6~10 min in-game. Its so annoying because whenever I DC there is no other solution but to shutdown my computer, restart, and load LoL again. I wish riot will fix this for us because I cant find any way to fix this problem. I might quit if this continues in the next patch, it's so pointless to play when you become 5 levels behind everyone and then end up losing E V E R Y G A M E.
