Crash DirectX error has occurered latest patch

After Completing champion select the game attempts to start the load screen, which pops up briefly as a black square then crashes with the error message "An unkown DirectX error has occurred and League of Legends cannot start. Please make sure your video card is using the latest video driver from the manufacturer."

This started happening just following the latest update to the 5.10 patch. My video card is a nvidea 8800 gs, an older but solid card (I usually run max res with high settings without any issues) on a windows 7 64 bit intel core 2 quad cpu. All of my drivers are running the latest updates (which are still kinda old, old pc support kinda sucks) and so is Directx.

Please help me, I wanna play league
