Teammates and Their Icons Disappear after Disconnect-Reconnect

So while I was playing a game as Tryndamere jungle, I temporarily disconnected and reconnnected (without leaving the game). After it reconnected, my teammates were invisible and their icons on the minimap gone.

The enemies however, were visible as normal, and my teammates were still playing. I could even see their auto-attacks projectiles popping out of thin air! Would this have something to do with the loss of a connection?
