Getting S's but no chests

Hi Riot, I don't get S's often but two times now I've gotten an S on a champion I own, while playing regular PvP matches, and I got no chests for my efforts. I don't know if it's a bug or a feature somehow, but it's getting a bit disappointing when I try my best but I get nothing.

Let's see, there are a few things that go into getting a chest that you'll want to check

Do you have chests available? You can only get up to 4 a month. You can see the number that is available on your profile.
Have you gotten one on said champion already? You can only get one chest per year, per champion (which does reset during the season start but you may have already gotten some)
