Gifting skins does not display a notification message for the receiver

My friend has gifted me Death Sworn Zed and Soul Hunter Kayn, both days apart. Both times I did not get a notification (when we play we usually set it up by surprising each other by saying "I want to play league log on" and when they log on a skin is gifted, nice natural reaction) so my friend had to tell me straight up I had received the skins by going into collection and going to the skins section which is a lot less surprising and fun to do. I hope this can be looked into further. I can't really post screenshots of it because I don't get a notification (so any evidence could be faked anyways) and I don't know if this happens for things other than gifting skins.
