Brand ult not working

I am finding that the Brand ult isn't working properly.

Even if you hit them with another ability, ie: W them followed by a Q to stun and then launch your R, it never bounces to champions. It will hit them initially, but then won't bounce to other champs or off creeps back to the initial target champion.
