Thresh Proc Relic?

I was trying Thresh today, since he was FTP and I'm a support main (yes, I'm a support main that does not own Thresh). I started with a Relic, since it was what it recommended for me. When I went to lane, I was curious as to if I proc Relic, since my aa is ranged. When I tried the first few times, it didnt work (I autoed the minions when they were a bit under half health cuz thats usually when u proc relic. Yes, my adc got salty even tho it was norms). Then, when I tried last hitting the minions as if I didn't have relic, I was able to proc relic. The weird thing is, once in a while, I am able to proc relic the same way a normal melee support with relic does. Is relic bugged on thresh, or is it just harder to proc relic on thresh since his aa is ranged?

Yeah no bonus execute on Thresh, but sometimes it was easier for you because.... Thresh's Flay AA Bonus Damage builds up after not attacking for X seconds

All champions may proc relic shield's ally bonus if they kill a minion. Melee champions on the other hand have a second effect. If they attack a minion below a certain amount of health while you have a proc, Relic Shield will execute the minion.

What happened is that Thresh does not get the bonus, so he does not get to kill minions from about half health. However, when you started last hitting minions normally and killing them, that allows the actual effect of relic shield (giving your ally the heal and gold) to activate onto your ally.

Relic is NOT bugged on him. And yes it's due to him being ranged. If you read the items passive it says MELEE auto attacks proc the execute part of it, but if you last hit with the Flay passive it makes getting the gold sharing & heal part of its passive a little bit easier. Hope this helps!
