In game ally portrait things

Whenever I enter a new league game the 4 teammate champion portraits show up on top of the minimap even though I have applied the setting that places them on the left side of my screen. This is fixed by pressing ESC but causes a very large fps drop and is quite annoying if I forget then notice mid laning phase.
