Friends List Won't Work Properly

My friends list in League of Legends appears to be broken. All of my friends in my list have the profile picture with the grey person with a black background and I am only limited to select the options send message, unfriend, add not and block, and nothing else after that. How can I fix this so they appear properly and so I can interact with the other options I am supposed to be able to do?

I noticed this recently too, and wasn't sure if it was an unintended issue with the client, or due to changes with Riot accounts that are occurring.

I noticed that I can see the icon and the other options, but only once the player has been online (even if they sign off). Once I close the client it's all gone again though.
