Missed a ranked lock in, never usually miss them, it dropped me out of promo's?

so i know there's punishment for missing you lock ins but i thought that was for repeat offenders! it just dropped me straight out of promo's for missing one, it was my last game too and i was saving it for a solid duo. Is that how it's meant to work?? that seems a bit overly harsh as i went to the toilet for 30 seconds, i was last picks but they must have smashed through the picks, and it took away my promo game...like come on.
