LP decay in gold?

As of patch 4.17, lp decay does not affect anyone gold and below. However, when i logged in today, I got a message saying I have become inactive and that my lp will decay. I feel like this is a bug because if lp decay does not affect anyone up to gold, why did I get this message? It scared the crap out of until I googled.
