What's with the firewall bug?

Apparently their is a bug with the game that will occur at random that will kick you from a game or not allow you to even connect. I heard you have to repair your client, or wait it out, sometimes taking 16 minuets to get back into a game. Turning off firewall doesn't even work, neither does leaving it on and allowing LoL through. What's the deal?
