Queueing with/as unranked

I accidentally posted this in the wrong forums and didn't see a way to move it, sorry.

Me and 2 others are unranked. Have not played a single game this season, not even started placements. We cannot queue. It seems to be remembering last season's rankings. Last season, I was gold, my father was bronze, and my mother unranked. I cannot invite my father, and my mother can invite both of us, but we get an error and only one of us can join (so it seems it gave her silver, which makes sense for unranked honestly.) Is this intended? None of us have played a single ranked game this season, and we just wanted to try the new dynamic queue.... We also are part of a ranked 5's team with my other friends, and I worry in this new system we can never queue for ranked together again, in any way... I was hoping to take advantage of the unranked status to play ranked with them a little...
