Mordekaiser Gameplay issues

Morde is very... clunky. His gameplay is not smooth at all and this can be very frustrating. First of all, his W is nice to use as an escape but Morde is a primarily mid/top champion - so this doesn't help very much when you're by yourself. His W can be cast on a minion however for the move speed bonus.

Mordekaiser has no escape plan unless you use summoner spells, which means when they are down you're last resort is to stand and fight even when you know you will die. Here is where you will find your problem. The smart player would attempt to kite - trying to use E and Q in rotation while slowly taking steps in the direction of retreat in an attempt to use his shield passive in order to survive.

BUT altogether he is just too clumsy to do this.

Recreating the bug: Scenario - Imagine you are an offending Mordekaiser trying to keep your shield up against an enemy champion at the enemy tower, both sides have minions around. You would want to E and then immediately turn around and walk back after taking turret agro. 75% of the time, your E will not fire correctly. It will cast and hit nothing. Often your E will hit nothing even if enemy minions are right in front of you. it is just clumsy and the aim with autocast is awful.

Furthermore , if you are attempting to flee enemy pursuit and maintain your passive shield with a little E kite spam, this is just impossible. Morde does not turn fast enough and does not cast fast enough to pull off this maneuver. Any other champion would be able to throw back skill shots over their shoulder while running, but for Morde this is just impossible.

His gameplay is sluggish and cheap

He was an AP melee fighter with hypercarrying potential.

Now Riot wants him as a useless tank who can't tank, 0 damage, cc or mobility.

So yeah.

Well, I like morde. I don't think he's viable 1v1 until late game and built. Early game, stay in lane next to minions, and it's hard for enemy to do actual damage to you. For 1.) I don't use auto-cast. So my E? Works every time I use it, so no problem there. Usually the problem with the people who use "auto-cast" is, it'll cast as soon as in range, so if they came slightly in it and you use it, while they're backing out, of course it's not going to hit. I don't see a lot of people take anything but ignite and flash on him mid or top, so I'm not sure what else you're using to get away. He is a tanky mage, so when you are able to 1v1 or 1v2, you shouldn't need to run away, you should be able to wreck them if built correctly. Unless your gunna ghost and try to kite, which kiting with a lower tier champ is not a good idea, then I see nothing really wrong with him.

I guess the problem I am experiencing is just using autocast after reading and talking with other people. His autocast abilities are not smart at all, maybe I need some advice in setting up hotkeys from normal cast to autocast.

I can say though, trying to stretch your shield out while retreating, Q is useless only because of Morde's rotation speed. So what I'm saying about his clunky-ness does exist, it is there where it isn't there for other champions.

Thanks for the feedback guys
