Talon W Flash Bug [Gameplay]
I play a lot of ranked
. And I've tried a lot of combos on him for various reasons when I've seen fit, but for a long time now I've noticed a bug or unintended interaction between Talon's flash and W that puts my life in danger often. I've yet to report it because I'm kind of skeptical as to whether it will actually get fixed but I have some time on my hands so I'll go ahead and give it a shot.
Description: The bug occurs without fail when Talon attempts to W a direction then immediately flash the opposite direction. Talon will begin channeling his W and the blades will move a small distance away from Talon before Talon flashes. Once Talon flashes he will be facing the opposite direction of the W cast and the blades will disappear from where he cast them and appear the same distance from him in the opposite direction and continue to move as normal just in a completely different spot. Without ever going basically anywhere in the direction you actually cast the ability.
This bug is particularly annoying and game impacting for Talon players because in a close encounter or high risk situation you will often want to throw your blades backwards before you flash away as soon as possible. But every time you try and do this on live you end up stopping to Rake without actually slowing or damaging you pursuers because Talon will completely whiff it.
How To Produce:
The bug is easy to produce. But before I tell you the steps just to be clear I want to go over how myself and a lot of mechanically sound players cast abilities as quickly as possible. If you understand this already feel free to skip it.
When multiple abilities are cast of League of Legends (typically 2) they can either be cast at the same time as each other or they cannot. An example of abilities that can be cast at the same time are Syndra's Q and E, or Talon's W and R. If the abilities can be cast at the same time they go off at the same time. If abilities cannot be cast at the same time and the second skill is pressed before the first ability is done casting then the second ability will basically be in queue. Abilities in this "queue" will be cast after the first ability is completed. A good example of skills like this would be Jarvan's E and Q. If Q is pressed rapidly after E then Jarvan will cast his E and continue to cast his queue without you needing to press Q again even though you were casting E. Of course not all abilities combos function like this. To be specific, abilities with longer cast times often do not put other abilities in this "queue". They just ignore other attempts to cast abilities. Which makes sense because by the time longer abilities are cast you may not want to cast the next skill in the same spot. You may not even want to cast the second skill at all. A good example of an ability that does not put others in this "queue" is Yasuo's R Last Breath. Any attempts to cast other abilities are ignored until Last Breath has finished channeling.
The point of making sure everyone knows how these abilities function when they're input quickly is that this is excalty what is required to make the Talon bug happen.
Steps To Recreate Talong Bug (Works every time):
- Select Talon probably on any map but I've only attempted it on Summoner's Rift. Make sure to take Flash as well (Ignite too if you've got a pair).
- Learn W
- While walking, (I was always running away when trying to do this so I'm going to recommend you do the same) cast W backwards and press Flash as quickly as possible afterwards. You should attempt to "queue" the Flash to be used immediately after Talon's W. So you should not be Flashing the instant you press Flash.
If these things are done properly, Talon will act as I described above casting his W in the complete opposite direction making you look like a tool. I'd like to apologize for not having any videos of this bug but I didn't find any during my search and the bug rather easy to recreate anyways so I hope that detail doesn't cause too much trouble.
As a final point, I'd like to mention that this DOES function similarly to Cassiopeia ult and their problems are close knit but Cassiopeia's ult only really benefits from this bug while Talon is only really harmed. This is really only to to what the abilities and their purposes are. Talon would prefer for his Rake to not fly in the opposite direction when he Flashes. Cassiopeia tends to enjoy being able to channel her ult in safety before flashing on her enemies towards the end of the channel and stunning them.
If you have any questions or comments, (even a comment telling me Riot has no intention of fixing this) that's what the comments section below is for and I will do my best to answer them. Hopefully I've been of some help with this.
