New Patch Problem resulted in ranked loss

I opened LoL this morning and it started patching. There was an error in updating and later today I spent around an hour trying to fix it. League finally loaded and I go to play a ranked game and the game doesn't load after champion select resulting in a leave and a loss for the team. Any ideas on how to fix this so I'm not penalized again with lp loss or reported?
