Malzahar voidlings bug?

I recently played a game where malz had 4voidlings killing me at level 3. I thought there was a limit at one or two. Help!?!

Hey DestroAngel,

No this is not a bug. Currently if you look at the tool tip of Malzahar it explains what you are seeing.

When Malz cast the the spell, it spawns a Voidling. This Voidling must attack before "X" seconds are remaining. one its first attack it spawns another Voidling, which can spawn another and another. The catch is that the spawning Voidlings lifespan is only the lifespan on the Voidling that spawned it.

For example if a Voidling landed it's first auto with 3 seconds left, the next Voidling would only have 3 seconds of life.

The best route of stopping this is to make sure you kite the Voidlings as best as possible. Doing this will negate their damage and the swarm of them that can spawn.

What is the max number of voidlings then? When I watch the video on the Malz page on the official LOL webpage the max voidlings is 3. There should be more voidlings given the time the spend attacking. What gives? Is the video on the official page dated?

When he uses w, his voidlings have 3 seconds to multiply. This allows one w cast to get about 3 total if you get hit by each new one fast enough. After 1 sec, if he has his second stack ready, he can cast w once more to spawn another full voidling which in turn can make maybe 2 more.

So in total he should only be able to get a max of 6 if you stand still or are slowed.
