About earlier today, roughly 8 hours ago i was playing league happily. I go to work and come home and now i scan files indefinitely. I took me 10 minutes to download/install 5.3 a few days ago. It has taken me 45 minutes to scan files (still not complete) on this random occasion. This needs fixing!

I know how to fix it after reading this thread but seriously Riot Games? What do you pay your developers for... Whoever is in charge of programming the league patcher should be replaced, I understand you may have felt bad for an unemployed kid with Down syndrome but is that worth the number of unhappy players?

Envy Sin3 votesThey threw in another patch or something, Which makes the system think you canceled it before it was finished. So it has to scan EVERY game file to make sure you didn't change something.
I'm updating now after scanning 25,000 files.

I can't believe that a game with this many players has such a bad patcher, no other game takes so long to look for changes. In addition, the patcher leaves old and useless versions hidden in the installation directory.
EDIT: After checking probably about 6000 files, the launcher just decided to let me play. I just don't understand it... but now I'm happy.
RoyCohn3 votesSame here - whenever i start the game, it starts with calculating differences, which takes forever. The patch has been applied and it goes without saying that I didn't mess around with the game's files.

Ryze From Graves1 votesim on patch 6.4... it patched yesterday just fine.. now today theres another patch ... it froze at 2 files... then i reset the client now iv been sitting here for 5 hours waiting for these files to stop scanning.. its up to 36k and still going.. im getting very frustrated i need a fix....

Never cancelled any update waited till the end and after even played games but noo it just randomly drops out an fucking file scanning shit. Please rito fix your patchers or you gona loose players.

Yesterday when I downloaded the new patch i was at school so I blamed it on their crappy wifi for taking nearly two hours to scan thousands of files. Rito, you need a new patcher! I remember playing WoW and it never took this long to patch or search for updates!

"This Is what I did to fix it
Close out of your patcher and go to C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\projects\lol_game_client\filearchive and delete the filearchive folder. Start your patcher again, wait a bit and it should start updating and go above the 33%."
