Client Update + Restart loop

Every time i attempt to load the program, my client displays the message " We have restored this installation to an older version of league of legends. Now we'll try to patch it up to the latest version." I then click Okay, and am immediately told " There was a problem patching league of legends. We'll restore a backup version and try updating again after you restart the patcher."

In my previous match, i received a black screen while loading for about five minutes. i was playing Trundle I then restarted my computer in order to be able to connect to the game. Ran fine while i was in game, then it asked me to patch immediately after the match. Would love some insight into why this is happening, all i can think of is that my backup may have been corrupted the first time i installed this current 9.8 patch.
