Chat Bugs When Muting Player

After I mute a player my entire chat becomes italicized. Also the history of the chat pre-mute disappears and when I press z to show more chat it show from the mute and the few above it and when I release z it only shows the most previous messages meaning anything after the mute but before the most recent is gone forever. Really weird annoying but, unmuting the player doesn't fix it either, once the bug occurs it's there for the rest of the game.
