[CRASH] League of Legends freezes my computer when I log in.

I'm allowed to open the launcher and get to the log in screen, but after I log in the client turns black and instantly freezes my computer. I have to unplug my computer and plug it back in to be able to restart. This problem happened during patch 5.13 to 5.14.

Here's my PC specs:

OS : Windows 8.1 64-bit
Processor : AMD A6- 5200 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics (4 CPUs) , ~2.0GHz
Graphics Card : AMD Radeon HD 8400
Memory: 4096MB RAM

I have had League of Legends installed for 2 1/2 years and I haven't had this problem until a few days ago.

I also have problems with League of Legends freezing, not just when it first loads but also when searching or selecting champions and summoner spells in champ select. It's really annoying because I have to make sure I use the same summoner spells or change them as soon as it's my turn in champion select or I risk my client freezing and getting removed for not selecting a champion.

i linked this thread to a comment from riot asking for specs and help. the discussion/comment is here they are focusing on mac mostly, dunno if other windows users are having the same problem.
