Lee not shielding when in q midair

So after many games spent on rift with lee i realized that if you do q,and while in midair you do w (stopping your q from doing dmg),you will also not shield the person you did w on,and you will also not receive a shield.This doesnt work always,but if you try it enough times in practice tool you will see it,as well as on summoners rift 5v5.
