Kalista pulling Karthus in death?

I didn't think too much about the situation when it happened, but decided to better check if it is intentional or not. I was playing an ARAM as Kalista and bound myself to the Karthus (we didn't have any tanks and seemed like a good idea). Later in the game I was trying to pull Earths out of a bad spot with my ult but it was too late. He had been slain. ;( That didn't stop me from pulling him to me though. So is it intentional to be able to pull a post death Karthus with Kalista ultimate?
