Pantheon can't use items after dying mid ult?

TLDR:Tried ulting away from 4 people as pantheon but then died by thunderlord's decree. Items stopped working until i ulted again.

So i was playing a game with my cousins going full damage pantheon. I had just bought youmuu's and so i went top lane to push. I was caught by 4 people. An Orianna, Fiddle, Olaf, and Ashe. To get away i tried using youmuu's but i wasnt fast enough. I tried to ult away, but i died. I had jumped but before flying to my landing position I was killed by Orianna's thunder lords.

After this I couldn't use my items. They were just dark like they were supposed to have a cool down timer on them but there was none. They were disabled. I was in distress because i could not use my items to assassinate people, but then once i ulted again the items began to work.
