Mac bug: new patch sound issues

I wish I had exact repro steps, but I don't. I'm playing on a Mac, and with the last patch, large team fights with explosions cause my sound to go all awful and choppy... This also introduces temporary lag, so I can't control my character well either. I'm not sure which specific sound effects are involved, but I saw it in two consecutive games. I'll list the champions whose explosion sounds seemed to be involved:

Game 1: Jhin, Vi, Heimerdinger Game 2: Jhin, Vi

Again, I wish I had better repro steps to help troubleshoot this.

Yep seems to be happening to many Mac users myself included. Found the sound became choppy and got bad lag spikes when ever i or anyone else dropped wards. I tried turning off most of the audio (music, extra bullshit sound effects ext.) Helped a bit, but the lag storm that was team fights was still ridiculous. This is normally not a problem, i have a good computer and internet. None of my games involved jhin, vi or heimer but they did have in common Alistar and Sol. When ever that dragon rolled into view, might as well have froze the game all together. Perhaps its his hidden passive or something, but it need to be nerfed! I know the majority are not Mac users, but i hope they get on this quick so i can continue to play. Not sure how everyone else feels but as for now its personally unplayable.

I mentioned this to my friend today. Have a mac, and after the patch, I've had both sound issues as well as lag during teamfights.

Happens every game for me

This has been around for over a week now. I think 13 days since the last patch. KateyKaos already addressed this issue. Riot is unaware of what is causing the problem, but is aware.

Im on a Macbook Pro. Was under the impression Garen's vigorous appeals to justice had burst my headphones.

Glad its an audio issue, it's only when there is a lot of sound or particularly loud Audio FX for me.

I am also having this problem, usually around teamfights I get a massive fps drop with the audio stuttering.

Edit: I just tried disabling all sound in game and also turned the Video to "very low", doesn't seem to be too effective.

Running on a Mac Pro tower and still having problems specs: Radeon 5770 Dual Xeon 2.8ghz processer El capiten latest version

Same problem here on my mac mini late 2014 Yosemite 10.10.5

I've noticed many sound errors with Jax (Sounds like an attack helicopter over my roof)

Happened to me in 1 out of the 4 games I played after the patch. The game in question: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2135215141/203627831 I had a Jhin on my team, like the OP. None of the other matches, which were unaffected, had Jhin. I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can find something that's reproducible.

Note that the newest update to OS X El Capitan (10.11.4) was recently released, so perhaps that has something to do with it.

Update: happened again, this time in http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2136442229/203627831 Jhin was not in this game, but I noticed that Tristana on the enemy team was a shared champion in both, and wasn't in any of the OK games. Karma was obviously as well, but I've had other Karma games that were fine.

So, ignoring recreating the sound issues, what hardware/OS are you running on your system? To get a better idea of where the issue could be.

Example:

Currently running a 2010 macbook pro with Yosemite 10.10.5, 4 gig DDR3, 500 gig SS harddrive, stock built-in audio

Riot please!! I'm having the same problem, every game come team fight time I'm the one lagging around sound goes haywire and I typically end up with a grey screen. Only started happening after latest patch, any solution or news? To add on to that I'm pretty sure its not champ related (only saying that because a lot of people are posting the champs they're playing) happens sooner or later

Same problem, sound gets horrible everytime we are in a big teamfight. I'm playing on a Mac as well and never had the issue before. It happens everygame for me btw, not only the ones with Jhin in it, so I don't think that's the problem...

Having the same issue, disabling all the sounds helps but it's a temporarily fix.... I hope Riot will fix this soon.

Bump. The game ran at a steady 140+ FPS until recently. Now it rests at 40 FPS. Audio stutters or sometimes doesn't play at all and FPS drops to 8 in fights (Aram is unplayable).

FOUND FIX TLDR AT END

i own a 2015 macbook pro 15" and been getting this problem too however i have found fix for this the issue is for some reason once lol game starts (matchup loading screen) and a speaker,ear/head phone of any sort is comnected the games audio system will halt. this is only temporary fix but it helps me alot:

check if any speakers or audio device is used with your mac 2.if any (wired wireless or bluetooth) is connect disconnect them all (remove jack from audio port, usb dongle for wireless headset or turn off bluetooth for bt audio device). 3.anytime you want to play league connect that audio device before loading screen or when everyone locked in and game is in count down. 4.if already in game and still want to use audio device, either when game only started or you have long respawn time exit game, connect device and reconnect to the game via client(no need to close it). 5.if noy working restart game (not client tho you can).

TLDR: if want to use any type of ear/headphone or speaker connect them before in matchup loading screen. if already in game found spare time to exit game(not client), connect audio and reconnect to game.

I know this is an old thread but I got exactly the same problem on my Mac after the recent patch. Plugging the headphones before the loading screen helps tnough.

Same issue, noticed while playing as Yasuo vs a Vi and a Nautilus on a late 2011 Mac Mini running OS X 10.9.5 with 4 gigs of RAM and a 2.7ghz Core i7.

This definitely happened to me in the one game I was able to play last night after the patch. I've got a 2011 MacBook Pro.

This exact same issue actually always happens to me if I try to use Bluetooth headphones in game. Now it seems to be happening every game with Bluetooth or not.

I am so glad I am not going mad. It's been driving me absolutely nuts and I was like let's play aram to see if this problem gets fixed...nope. So Im glad im not alone but at the same time sad to hear this. Hopefully there is some fix to this :(

Yes this is happening to me on Mac since last patch. Played as Teemo then as MF. Teemo audio was horrible and distorted all game and if a fight broke out you may as well sit out because graphics will get too choppy to be able to tell what happens before you die. Please fix, thanks!

My husband and I are both having this problem too with any champ we play. We both use macs. I've had to completely disable my sound on the game in order to play without lag. It's awkward playing in silence. Hope this gets resolved soon.

Yeah I’m having the exact same problem. I was playing Kindred against a gank plank and his barrels and ult would make my sound all choppy. Made if very hard for me to teamfight and even be around the gankplank.

Ive been having the same issues with my mac. Ever since the new patch, my fps goes from 60 to 1-10 whenever more than 6 or 7 people are on my map. I even tried summ rift, but it even lags when im in bot lane. item 3070

I've been having the same described audio problems on a MacBook Air. The FPS drops haven't affected me too much, and at most it has only dropped about 10 in teamfights. I've noticed it primarily with Jhin, Naut, and Vi and its quite a nuisance.
