I had a unplaced player on my team in my promo to gold 3, I checked afterwards. This isnt a bug, at least I dont think so. But it should be. Im expected to carry a player that might be level 30 and playing there first ranked match when im on a support?
It's normal. Just Riot trying to artificially lower your win rate.
Unranked doesn't mean that ppl have never ranked before or that they're new, it means they're unranked for the current season. They're may be not interested in rankeds but do their placement for the season rewards. I've done my placement a few weeks ago personally. Assuming a unranked player is in gold it may either mean they've won a lot in the first games (smurf or true new players) or that they had a much higher mmr last season.
Maybe because the player had a Gold III MMR after playing a few placement games? It's normal.
Matchmaking is based on your ELO, not your rank.
Assuming it was a mistake, it sucks on both sides.
Came back to League after not having played for a number of years.
My ranked MMR was so high that, despite being at a Silver 2 skill level, I had dozens of games where I was matched with platinum players.
Ain't a bug my friend just Riot trash rank match design that they toss to us and never care to update or improve on it.

If he was an unranked player, it was probably because he haven't played his placement, but he was around Gold 3 before. Matchmaking is based on MMR, which means that he is in the same mmr range as you. This is because he was around that mmr range/rank before the season reset.
So to put it like this, stop blaming matchmaking. Based on MMR he is just as good as you.

welcome to lazy riot design, but then again, they are a LOT better than heroes of the storm ranked.. lets just say, blizzard should stop doing ranked in their games

He was level 30, unranked, yasuo main with horrible stats. I dodged.
New players are frequently started way too high for their MMR. It's a problem that has been around for some time.
I had one in G2 promo. Guess what. He sucked but there were no reason to flamr him. It wasnt his fault. You can only blame riot for this. TO be honest you can pretty blame riot for everyting bad related to this game. Their lack of will to fix their shits is too obvious.
