Rengar while in mid air canot be afected by AEO ?

So i was playing darius top lane against this rengar we started fighting in the bush and he starts jumping and running and my Q cant seem to him him even if hes in range . It doesnt apply the damage if hes mid air of the second he landed . it was quite unfair i tried it with Hydra and same thing it wont do damage to him even if i hit him and hes in range :p
