We need your ward jump crash reports!

RiotRiot Exgeniar·10/7/2014, 1:33:27 AM·8 votes·22,064 views

Have you crashed recently while ward jumping?

We've heard scattered reports of players crashing when ward jumping, usually while playing Lee Sin and Katarina -- not as much with Jax for some reason. This also seems to occur when you’re spamming either ward placement, ward jump (or just button mashing).

If you've figured out any information on how to reproduce this crash consistently, please PLEASE let us know! Every bit of information helps! Even if you don’t know what you did, just hitting the “Send Report” button when you crash gives us meaningful data!

Thanks,

Funny as soon as Lee gets a bug Riot panics. Quinn however.. lets continue to ignore her numerous bugs.

Can we get an answer to the 50+ threads complaining about connection issues? Take one look at the Help & Support board and you will see thread after thread of people complaining. Here is a big thread about the issue:

Can't we just leave this bug in, or even make it happen 100% of the time for this Cancerous act?

This might be an opportune time to evaluate how healthy ward jumping is, as a mechanic in general. Fun and challenging for the player doing it, but I think it could be argued this interfers disproportionately with how much fun the enemy has.

How much, if any, counterplay does this have? You can get 1 or 2 attacks in before it turns invisible, but if you focus the ward, the jumper gets free his on you.

Just disable Lee Sin. I don't think I've ever seen a Red post asking for Yorick crash reports.

Hmm, I had my client crash a few patches ago twice in a row while ward hopping on Jax. It seemed to happen when I jumped to a ward (enemy/ally) right when it was going to disappear.

Glad to see Riot is acknowledging this issue after I posted a thread in the Bugs section.

How I can replicate it as Katarina: Ward on hotkey "2", second slot in inventory. Smartcast keystrokes of Shift+E.

Although I've only had this happen once with Lee Sin: Ward on hotkey "2", second slot in inventory. Smartcast keystrokes of Shift+W.

When I ward hop, the sequence of inputting "@E" really fast instantly crashes my game and the Bugsplat Report shows up. Note: I don't button mash. As a Katarina and Lee Sin main, I hope you guys fix this ASAP because it's hindering the way I play Katarina (making feel like a crash will happen any time) and also gets me killed fairly often when I try to escape.

Related note: I believe this is a bug with all active items because I specifically remember using Deathfire Grasp "Shift+2" and "Shift+E" (Shunpo) into an enemy and having my game crash as well a long time ago.

I've played 1,500 games as Katarina, and there are two events that happen in LoL that causes a small amount of lag that's unacceptable and able to kill me with no counter-play.

The first one has plauged MOBA's for as long as they've existed. The second one is a close second.

  1. Karthus R I wouldn't be the first person to want the frames on this stripped completely to avoid any possible chance of lag, while keeping this ancient ability in MOBA/LoL. Practically invisible with lux laser type line pls

  2. Placing a ward myself. Jumping to it has nothing to do with it. The problem is placing the ward is instant. The recovery time is enormous and random. The PROOF is in the ward jump. Go make a custom and ward jump 100 times. Despite anything, they are all different delays, even though I know you can face smash them instantly together. A macro would probably have inconsistent results.

  3. Ping Playing any of these champions at higher then normal ping furthers the issue of being able to place the ward. Interestingly, the ward hop fails to be as fast, again, but has higher results on performance. The shunpo follows the ward placement faster with less recovery between the two events at high ping.

If you could place a ward, at low ping, with no recovery, I would be consistently be ward hoping in the middle of teamfights, over peoples heads, dodging ultimate abilities and more of the ways flash can be used. "Recovery" however is nearly a suicide feature to the point that: Yes, I bet it crashes games.

tl;dr GG it's the wards. Everyone wards. Wards = gamecrash, if you see someone ever place a ward, kat or not, attack them duh. they're frozen.

my advice would be to remove ward placement from autofacing the champion the direction the ward is placed. second, if possible remove the 'swoosh'.

This only shows where a ward was placed. I dislike this very much.

crashes when i spam smartcasting ward and shunpo alternately.

The ward hop BUG SPLAT seems to only happen to me when I am spamming Shunpo and attempting to jump through walls where I am recieving vision from the ward I just placed. I have not bug splatted in lane ward hopping.

Good, more reason to get rid of ward jumping. Never liked that mechanic, brings nothing to the game but irritation

hey riot team, i saw in your comment that you said this bug is happening on katarina and lee sin, who both gain an additional effect upon completing their jumps but not so much on jax who just leap strikes and continues with no additional statistical effects.

i would recommend trying this on lee sin. attack a minion camp in the jungle using his q to engage from the other side of the wall rapidly fire off both actions on his e, ward jump back over the wall and flash back on to the camp side to trigger the minions auto attacks then reactivate his w. this will stack the largest amount of actions i can think of happening at one time on him, and if that doesn't trigger the crash then i think you will need to take it outside of lee sin, and into teamfights, where lots of actions are being executed at once, but in my opinion if it is more prevalent on lee sin and katarina then it is on jax then i would think it would have to do with the sheild/damage reduction these two champions gain after the rapid location change. if it is also happening on jax just way less often, i would look into trying ward jumping on jax with a rageblade in his inventory. that would bring jax into the same category as katarina and lee in that he would have a rapid location change then he would have a change in stats.

They might be more concerned about lee crashing because of worlds. quinn isn't a common pick nor kat. However if Insec goes to do is patented ward hop and his client crashes..... can u just imagine the uproar that would follow at worlds? the whole game might have to be thrown out.

Kats Pajamas10/14/2014, 5:33:48 PM1 votes

incase the red wants to read this, its the wards crashing the game

Xaihady10/16/2014, 5:39:32 AM1 votes

Interestingly enough, this also happens with me on my mid-laners, specifically Syndra. I keep my DFG bound to my middle-click button, but I usually put wards in the same slot before I've acquired one. In intense situations I'll click that button out of muscle memory, accidentally slapping a ward down followed immediately by R, then bugsplat.

MajorFletch10/16/2014, 7:01:43 PM1 votes

usually when i spam lee sins w over my quick casted ward.

Had a xin game where he would teleport /lag it seemed rather than jump with his e. Could also be there is just a ludicris amount of lag tonight. 10/16/2014
