[Client] Promoted during an unranked draft game

I duo queue'd with an unranked friend, in a draft normal Summoner's rift game. Before the game I was 2 wins, 2 losses in my promos to platinum. After game I got a message that I won my series, and that I was promoted to plat 5. I'm pretty sure this is not the intended behaviour.

Let me know if I can supply any more detail.

So quick repro steps:

  1. get Gold 1. Get to Platinum promos. Lose one game, win one, lose another, win one. (so you're 2wins, 2 losses)
  2. Start a draft pick normal game. Invite an unranked player.
  3. Win a game.
  4. Congratulations. You have been promoted to Plat 5.

This is clearly not the correct behaviour, as the game wasn't ranked in the first place.

Im sorry to inform you, but that was a ranked game. Look at your match history.

Thanks for the clarification and sorry for the confusion. My friend never played a ranked game before, and normally I wasn't allowed to select him as a duo partner for a ranked game. And I'm also currently not able to do so. But possibly there's an estimate of his rank being silver, in which case I was able to queue up with him for a short time while I was gold (I got demoted a couple of days prior), without realising it.

Sometimes you accidentally queue for Ranked and think it was a Normals or vice versa. It happens. It's unlikely you queued for a Normals, but it's probably impossible to prove unless you have a video of you selecting it.

Also unranked players follow the queuing rules of their past season's rank. As an example I'm unranked but cannot play with my bronze friends since I was gold last season, but I can play with my gold and silver friends.

A lot of people think unranked players cannot queue with gold players and higher, which may add to the OP's confusion here.

You must be right. I just figured it'd be a kind of bug with a low incentive to report, so it could've slipped under the cracks as not many people would've reported it :)

Hmm I think this person is just trying to show off that they got to platinum
