Malz suppression doesn't stop queued skills.

Twice in my last game, I ulted someone with and immediately following the ult, I was killed by the next skill by that champ. First it was ice blast, then it was sinister steel. I thought it might be my imagination or at least, a delay in my visual (Nunu could be explained as having more range and in flight) but how could Kat kill me with W AFTER shunpo to me then insta suppress? Either her queued W is going off, or there is a bug with Malz' ult use conditions (going on CD after death, even when not used).
