I tried this in two games. I buy Lux and immediately drag her over the shop and it says "Sell for 5G".
I haven't actually tried selling her yet since I don't want to lose gold but shouldn't all champions sell for what you bought them for?
No. Higher cost units sell for less so it's a risky move to sell them back as the game goes on.
Anyway, the higher cost on the Lux unit is there to compensate for buy-out strategies, I think. Since you would only have to buy a single unit to effectively remove that entire champion from the game. (Lux will still be in the game, but if you buy a single Infernal Lux, then nobody else can, for as long as you are holding it.) It's a lot of control inherent in picking up a single Lux unit.

You can actually buy her for 5G if you don't have 7G, it'll be gray but you can still buy her.

Units costing 1, 2 and 3 gold will be sold back for the same amount. 4, 5 and Lux units sell back for less. Other commenter is right, as units get more expensive, it becomes less efficient to buy and then sell them back. Not a bug.
