do diamond smurfs even look for a duo to carry?

i dont really see the logic behind it other than maybe the diamond smurf is looking for a friend. other than looking for a friend tho, i see their labeling themselves as a 'smurf' suspicious to begin with. i use boards often, and one thing i see in boards often, is people claiming to be something they are not, or less than what is advertised. has anyone run into any scenarios where the person they recruit from boards doesnt promise what they claim? like "i main adc" and you look at their match history and its mages and fighters.
