Honestly they were one of the most infuriating experiences I've had and unless you've got a well run, organized team (don't ever, EVER ask to be put solo), it's pretty much just a joke won by the same people night and night again.

It's barely competitive as the same teams win over and over and unless you've got a stacked team that you invited there's literally no chance of getting higher than 3rd.
If you want competitive, go to HKG or VG, which places people in appropriate brackets and matches people against others of their skill level with no preference to who are and aren't buddies.
Nah what happens in these tournies are people of low elo get placed both with and against people up to 3-4 tiers above them and when one team manages to find a group of friends that get as close to the Lolking Score cap as possible they're essentially guaranteed a place in the top 3.
You want competitive tournies? Fine. Stop pairing Diamonds/Plats and Silvers. Until then I refuse to believe they're even slightly competitive.

That's not highly competitive at all. If you can toss together a decent team and rack up RP like you won the jackpot it's not competitive.

No. You're not competitive. Competitive means that it requires you play at your very best, but it's still easily winnable.
Instead, you've got laughably mismatched teams and only 1-2 serious teams show up a night, and it turns into a glorified RP farm for them.
