What if Blind Pick Was Removed?

I think if Riot removed blind pick, it would widely reduce trolling, champion select arguments and queue dodging. Without blind pick, everyone in queue would be channeled into team builder, which in my opinion works better. The problems I see with this is that everyone would go into queue as their favorite role, so finding less popular roles like jungle and support might still take a long time. The other problem with this would be for new players, who are still learning how the meta works and are not sure about the role and position their champion should be played in.

I would appreciate discussion of this post, as I really think team builder is much more organized, and could reform the current champion select attitude, which in my experience is basically "MID OR FEED".

Removing blind isn't going to decrease trolling. While it helps a team get organized at what cost are we organizing a team? Longer times. You will still see people complain about getting X roll and to get into a game faster will pretend to be Y (most needed more than likely support and jungle) but then they will go somewhere else etc. There is no way to 100% get around the trolling but the best way to decrease it is to increase incentive to be good by offering rewards and punishing those who abuse the mechanics of teambuilder or punishing toxic behavior in general much harder than they do.

Well, the game would die overnight. I guess it would eliminate the bad apples, but that's like 75% of theplayerbase, and 80% of the remaining players are just casuals who don't want the pressure or responsibility of draft (or the extra time it takes to get a game started).

No. Team Builder is a far worse punishment than Blind Pick.

You know what happened the last time I played Team Builder?* I got an ADC who was level 30 who didn't know how to* auto attack. I'm not complaining about them not last hitting, or not attacking the highest priority target, they didn't know how to auto attack. They also didn't know how the enemy Caitlyn's ultimate worked, making no effort to save teammates when they themselves were full life...

Team Builder could also be named "Mirror Matchup Finder" or "Here, let me counter pick you". The adjusted matchmaking feels like it's more harm than good.

My favorite roll to play is Fill. You know what roll team builder doesn't have? Fill.

Any support main worth their salt knows they need to pick their champion based on what the ADC and the Team needs. The irony is that Team Builder doesn't let you pick your champs based on what the team needs. You have to pick and say "forget you losers, I'm playing X", or you have to bounce around lobby to lobby in hopes that you find a team your champ meshes with. Why would you want to do that when you can queue up, get the roll you want, play the champ the team needs, and be playing in 60 seconds with Blind pick?

Maybe ranked Team Builder will be better, when they let you pick your champion after you've been gathered as a team. Right now though, I prefer to avoid Team Builder like the plague. Removing Blind Pick would push me to Draft Pick, not Team Builder.

That is true. Another problem is that there is not a good enough reporting system that will consistently ban trollers but will not be abused.

I feel like removing any of the 3 normal SR matchmaking systems would do more harm than good, seeing as everyone has their go-to choice.

But I would like to see a 'practice' mode, which would just be blind pick with a 10 min surrender time. That way, everybody who has some shot-in-the-dark off-meta idea, they could try it without the same problems that would happen elsewhere

Maybe they could re-work Team Builder so that you only select the role, then get matched with teammates. Once in a team, you could figure champions out without a timer, and there would be no penalty for leaving, so if someone else's champion/role doesn't work for you, you can find a new group. Either way, I think it is a difficult problem to solve, and there might not be a perfect solution.
