Feedback about new SR Texture and Contrast/Saturation

Hey there!

I am very excited for the new SR overhaul, but here are some concerns I have with the current iteration:

The texture work looks really great, but it feels rather washed out, to a degree where it starts feeling rather "flat" and lifeless. I understand that your main goal is clarity, but I fear that you may be over-streamlining the whole terrain.

It's hard to describe in words alone, so I took some quick screenshots and fired up photoshop to tighten some color curves and toy around with the contrast a bit:

Here is the original as it is to be found in the current PBE version: http://i.imgur.com/RTyQ9zI.jpg

As you can see, the ground has a very strong "watercolor" feel to it and it's individual parts blend into each other a bit too much, creating this slight gray'ish, washed out feeling.

Here's my attempt at tightening up the colors a bit: http://i.imgur.com/uAu6Ir6.jpg

While the amount of saturation and contrast is up for discussion, I believe that the ground could use at least a bit. Cracks appear deeper and less "painted on", the grass has a more distinctly defined area compared to the dirt and the scene just looks more alive.

Here's another shot from the blue base: Current: http://i.imgur.com/nq1yPCx.jpg

I hope someone sees this and can give me their opinion.

I'm 100% with you on this. Today I tried it playing with Skarner on the new map, and there was also a Xin on my team, and we were both agreeing that our champions had nothing to do with the map. The colors are just so "smooth", it almost seems like the sun is hidden, dunno if you get what I mean... Btw to me it's quite disturbing that some champions are so colorful while the map is quite gray-ish, I hope more peeps will bring this up 'cause right now I'm quite disappointed. Even if all looks very nice, it's just not the game I used to know, it seems like some awkward and badly done mod wich puts the champon from LoL into a map that clearly doesn't fit. Sry for the text wall, but I really feel for this XD

Wow perfect post. This is exactly my biggest problem with the new map. Just adding more saturation gives the map so much more depth. It no longer looks like concept art.

I don't fully understand why Riot thinks making the map look better would make us all unable to see where our own champion is...
