Simple switch-up to normal 5v5 gameplay

  1. Start at level 18; full experience.
  2. Reverse exp on everything (minion kills, enemy kills, turret destroys and the like all take away exp that they would have given).
  3. Exp is 1.5x that of a normal game to ensure that a team doesn't just try to rush and push right off the bat.
  4. When you drop a level you lose a portion of an ability of your choosing (the plus signs above the abilities if one were to level up would be minus signs instead since you're down-leveling)
  5. By level 1 @ 0 exp your character will have no abilities

A few issues: Once all players reach level 1, the game would be down right impossible to end due to everyone being weaker than minions.

How would Khazix interact with this? Would he start out with 4 evolutions? if he lost one every time he lost an ult rank, he would still have an extra ranking. If we start him out with 3, then which 3?

How would Udyr interact with this? Would he start out with all 4 abilities at rank 5? If he lost an ability each rank, he would have 2 extra skill points by level 1. If we start him out with 18 ability points, then which 18 are they all started out with?

Some champions (specifically the stance swappers: Nidalee Jayce Elise and also Karma ) all start the game with a rank in their ultimate abilities at level 1 in normal play. The first 3 have actual gameplay impact (Jayce for example gains bonus movespeed for swapping and also empowers his next auto). At level 1, do they retain this? Because they would technically have to reach level 0 to have no abilities at all.

And finally, what about abilities that grant permanent effects? Would udyr be ejected from his current stance when he unlearns a skill? Would Cho'gath auto-lose his feast stacks when he reaches level 5? Would Sion, veigar and Nasus lose their bonus stacks since their stacks are tied to abilities?

Only problem is that you'd have to be FORCED to spend the "Downlevel" Point somehow.

That or It could just go with R>Q>W>E and automatically downlevel them if you lose another level without spending the point.

Otherwise you'd have people just deciding to not spend the point. Well, everyone, really.

I see a huge problem with jungling. Jungle creatures get stronger as you get weaker.

Funny idea. No idea how it would end though. Either one of the teams successfully closes out the game or they... just... don't. And it drags on until the minions end.

Also, the meta for this would probably be to just ARAM (maybe after grabbing buffs) to avoid level decay, so maybe just do it on Howling Abyss. Add some items to buff the minions so that they can end the game for you, and I could see it working.

A neat idea, but too many flaws to work
