Why The Thought Of Having Summoner's Rift Be On A Mountain Top?

The Summoner Rift that we currently have seems to be village-like. If you look over the walls at top and bottom lane, you'll notice that there's not only trees, but also structures from what seems to be houses. Now why the sudden change in having it be on a mountain top?
