Lets talk about Dominion

I'd like to talk about Dominion, my favorite game mode. I would also like to note that my main is Rammus. These are the reasons why Dominion just isn't fun anymore for me.

First of all, the nerf to my favorite item, Thornmail. Do you really think taking away some of Rammus main damage source is really worth it? The buffs to his W was very minimal at best, and adding 25% armor to reflect damage to try to stop that fed Master Yi or Fiora really isn't going to do much. Not to mention you raised the price by 200g in the last patch, do you realize how difficult it is to farm 200g in Dominion against AA champions without Thornmail? It was hard enough before but manageable, but now it's not even worth trying. Please consider giving me my item back, or changing it back for Dominion. I'm sick of you guys changing items that really don't need to be changed in the first place. It's all these buffed champions that need to be changed. I understand its easier to change items than champions but consider changing it back on Dominion.

Second, please consider buffing tank champions or items in Dominion. It's not fun at all playing a tank anymore. Have you played Dominion as tank lately? It's a pretty unforgiving experience. Ranged have so many advantages it's not even funny, especially with all of these broken mage champs out now. I don't know if I can keep playing this game anymore. Playing a tank isn't even fun anymore. Pretty surprised at all the nerfs to tank items lately. I am sort of wondering what direction you are trying to take the game in but, it seems like you don't like tanks very much. If you did, you wouldn't make constant changes to tank items.

Third, what is with all these gimmicky champions? This is the main reason alone that barely anyone plays Dominion or at least a pretty small % of players in LoL. Have you ever played versus a Shaco on Dominion? It's literally one of the most frustrating experiences a person can go through on this game. I am not sure what to do about this but something needs to be done. A smart Shaco doesn't even try to kill other people. He just back caps nodes and puts up some boxes. It usually takes 2+ people to take him down and/or find him. It doesn't help that all these other champions had reworks so everyone is doing ridiculous damage. Ekko is another champion that is making this game not fun anymore. It saddens me that Riot is allowing this champion to go on like this and with the nerf to Thornmail, just forget trying to kill him. This patch has completely decimated the fun that I used to have in this game mode. Do you know how unfun it is to play versus a Skarner? His crystal spires completely destroy the fun of this game mode. The focus should be on capping nodes and killing the enemy, not these stupid spires. Not to mention the team without Skarner is pretty handicapped at this point. I'm not even going to go into how OP he is now. I could go on but I think you get the point.

I guess that about wraps it up why playing dominion isn't fun for me anymore. Please Riot, give me a reason to keep playing Dominion as my favorite champion Rammus since I started playing this game. Because as of right now, I am not seeing one. Thanks.

TLDR: Dominion isn't fun anymore with the recent patch changes and with the constant nerfing to tanks.

1: Thornmail has never been an important item overall in Dominion, and mostly Rammus needed it. I'd have to test it, but it's probably not even bad on Rammus, considering that he gets a lot of armor anyway.

2: Tank champions are still very strong on Dominion, as are several tank items. Dead Man's Plate grants a lot of hp and armor and is overall the best armor item. Frozen Heart is a niche item vs attack-speed comps, Randuin's Omen is generally weaker than Dead Man's Plate due to the nerfs (but pretty good vs Ashe). Sunfire Cape has some use as well. As for MR item, Odyn's Veil grants a lot of tankiness (and some burst), Locket of the Iron Solari is still pretty strong and Spirit Visage is good on a few tanks with sustain (such as Tahm Kench, Zac, and Maokai). Overlord's Bloodmail is an option that I'm going to test a bit more.

You've got a bunch of strong tank champions as well, such as Leona, Nautilus, Tahm Kench, and Braum. Others are also pretty strong.

3: Shaco is very annoying and either deserves some map-specific nerfs (to make him less frustrating to play against, he's not really OP) or some buffs to anti-stealth itemization (such as Hextech Sweeper and Lightbringer buffs/reworks). How is Ekko a problem? Skarner is getting hotfixed, the altars are fine though, why do you dislike them?

Notice K/D/A and damage dealt to champions. Dead Man's Plate is really nice on him, and Thornmail is probably stronger vs APs now. Mpen marks, hp/level seals (armor/level seals would probably work too), MR/level glyphs, and CDR/level quints. It would probably be better to throw in three CDR/level glyphs in order to get 40% CDR instead of 35% CDR, but eh.

One game is not enough to say, of course, but he's probably not worse off than, say, S4 Lulu. It's also kind of funny to see Janna auto-attack you in fights and deal more damage to herself than to you. :D

I for one would LOVE to get the old functionality of Sweeper back (item 3067+item 3108), as in granting true sight for a few seconds on champions hit with your spells.

Part of the problem with Spooky Ghosts is that they don't hunt down enemies that are already stealthed and they lack the BOOF! active that Lightbringer and Sweeper bring to play.

So much grandstanding. Both of you should just focus on the arguments and ignore the persons behind them, m'kay?

With that being said: Try Dead Man's Plate + Thornmail +Odyn's Veil + CDR boots + CDR/level quints + 3 CDR/level glyphs (adjust the build if needed). E>W>Q skill order. Playstyle should be ganking bot fairly often, backcapping mid once in a while (or the enemy bot), and sometimes going with your team in the jungle (or helping them out if they get caught). Almost never push the lane, you generally shouldn't get more than 5-10 minions per game as Rammus. The new Thornmail is not even bad on him, since he gets so much armor. In fact, unless they have a lot of AD or crit chance, you'll deal more damage with the new Thornmail, especially vs non-AD champions. 120 free armor from W is sweet, and Thornmail + Dead Man's Plate add another 150. That alone is 67.5 damage, plus your base armor and increased armor from masteries (and potentially runes, if you prefer armor/level seals over hp/level seals).

  1. I will test it. I haven't actually played Rammus yet since the changes, but I'll test it. Dead Man's Plate might be nice on him, should make him less reliant on Q to roam, and his bot lane ganks will be even scarier.

  2. He should still be able to gank bot well, so he's probably still fairly strong. I'll test him though, tanky bruisers being stronger is a problem for Rammus. Some other strong tanks: Maokai, Amumu, Sejuani. Some fairly decent tanks, depending on the comps: Alistar, Malphite, Galio. Rammus has been hurt, most likely, yes. Sometimes changes intended for SR cause collateral damage.

  3. Rammus is not really meant to solo champions (although he can solo several champions), he's meant to roam well and shut down a single target with a taunt. His bot lane ganks are quite great too. As for Skarner, I think it's too early to tell. The altars haven't bothered me much yet, him being possibly a bit OP is worse, but he's getting nerfed.

Rushing Thornmail on Rammus has always been a subtle, but unmistakeable, way of saying "I'M BRONZE AND I WILL ALWAYS BE BRONZE!1!".

All I hear is, "QQ, my main, a tank designed for locking people down while his team nukes them to death, can no longer 1v1 a class of champions whose main purpose is 1v1ing. Every champion has losing matchups. That's the point. Why the hell do you expect to be able to 1v1 the entire roster and always win?

Learn to work with your team. Adapt your build to the new items. Learn a more effective playstyle. Hell, learn a new champ.

This isn't a Dominion thread. It's just a QQ Rammus nerf thread. Not even that, tho, it's a QQ one specific Rammus build nerf thread. Get over it.
