Game Mode: MINION OVERRUN

An interesting alternative game mode would be one in which the MINIONS are a much more serious threat - even more serious than champions. Not necessarily stronger minions, but more of them ... *HORDES *of them. Imagine a game mode where the amount of minions was 2x, 3x, ... 10xs more than in current modes. (zombies!)

The increase in minions would require one to pay more attention to defending your base from tons of minions and/or advancing your own minions hordes, rather than (how most people currently play) killing champions, taking towers, and .. oh yeah, minions too.

So something like this:

  • Played on SR
  • Maybe 3 Champs, instead of 5?
  • Minions start at 2xs normal amount and increase drastically as game progresses.
  • Defeated jungle creeps (except Baron?) immediately respawn (as friendly/allied) and continue to the nearest (or chosen) lane to help your teams minions push.
  • Game is won, as always, by destroying enemy nexus.
  • Alterations (or buffs) to Turrets can be purchased in shop:** Cause allied turrets to do More Damage to minions and less damage to champs**.
  • Short-term waves of superminions and/or increased minion output can be purchased at the shop.

I think these additional purchase choices would also be an interesting shift in gold efficiency - of course more gold would be available, allowing for additional G to be spent handling the extra minions. Nonetheless, gold-per-minion would likely need to be scaled back to compensate for the increase in minions.

Taking this further, what about a one-sided match where it's just you and your team?

Same rules as you mentioned above, but instead of destroying a nexus at the end you have to fight a insanely Doomed-out version of a Super Minion.

I just like it without all the other stuff. All the extra minions is good enough for me.

As someone who likes tower defense games, I would really want to see this come to fruition.

Maybe every so often the Minions have additional effects, such as melee ones reducing defensive stats or siege ones having piercing shots. I would also like to see maybe a minion that, upon death, spawns a bunch of smaller minions (a hostile poro if you will).

I could definitely see a mode with amped up minion numbers (and whatever else, but especially the minions). Though I guess Jungle would mostly become a non-role, since they would drop off in XP kinda hard (or per-minion XP and Gold would both have to be dropped OR jungle increased, but prolly just "drop" jungle to keep something of a balance). If they wanted to keep things tight, Twisted Treeline (or even Howling Abyss) would work too.

I do wonder how it would impact performance, though.

Would be funny to see Chogath or Trundle in that mess :p

I was just thinking of this! I don't know how much more power it would take for there to be a literal horde of minions, but maybe like a few extra more with supers being more common. like those cannon minion things showing up every wave and a super minion in every third wave.

The only issues i would see with this, is people only picking massive lane pushing champs, (Oriana, Zed, anyone with low cooldown strong aoe dmg to clear waves), as well as if jungle camps immediately respond- you'll have master yi/ udyr with nearly 10 min feral flares with tons of stacks. Interesting concept but seems to really only be fun with a small nich of champions to use

So is it just me that thinks that this gamemode would be boring? Its just minions, not even bot champions to kill.
