A friend of mine says map generation uses internet ressources, any proofs ?

Okay so i got in an argument with a friend over the fact that i was lagging on the 3v3 map when doing an hexakill. he keeps saying it uses more ressources, because it is not as recent as the new map, INCLUDING broadband.

As much as i could understand that keeping track of the people on the map might need internet usage, how would the map animations be tied to it ? He also said that's why he tends to have lag spikes on the Aram map, after first blood or some points in the game, the map changes (or at least the background) but isn't all that Pre-loaded when you enter the game ? Does it have any kind of relation ?

Visuals don't use anything related to the internet. Map loading, animations etc are all done client side and have nothing to do with the connection.

Some maps are less optimized than others, so fps spikes might happen sometimes. Ping spikes shouldn't be caused by map differences.
