Request/Suggestion for new mode.

Hi, As this will be a Longish post and likely Have a fair bit of grammatical mistakes, Please bear with me.

I'm writing this as both a player of League of Legends and a Student in game Development & Design, who is not ready to set my self onto the summoners RIft, and yet, Fed up with my favorite mode being, "Just ARAM" with the stigma that winning or losing doesn't matter, because people Only play it as a 'I'm bored of ranked' mode. I for one, Play ARAM as my main mode because I hate having to decide what champion I will play, I like them all, If I buy a champion, I like them enough to play them, and Its hard to choose over them fighting each other in the champion select. so lets Talk "Ranked, All random."

First thing to touch on,

  • Random is not balanced. So how do you make a Random Mode, that is Balanced. The Shop is already on its first step to doing that, and with a bit of Insight can likely be made into a Balancer as well. what I'm talking about is the Stat preview, for Instance, Ahri Shows her "Attributes" as Mage, and Secondary: Assassin. If those are taken into account, you can create a Pseudo-Balance in the randomization when champions are rolled. Where the randomization will select champions for each team member randomly But as a team composition Not exceed a certain rule given to it about how many of one Class you get. Say the randomizer is given a rule where the Value cannot exceed 5 points on a Certain role. and a champions Main Role is taken as a value of 2 and their Secondary(s) are a value of 1.

Secondly,

  • you could use the Howling abyss map, for this mode, and Have it Just simply be "Ranked ARAM" or you could try adding a Jungle mechanic to it, for those Sad juggler's that feel out of their comfort zone in the Howling Abyss, a Twisted treeline Type map would work, But if its 5 Champions, you could try to make the Map itself a Jungle. with one Clear lane down the Middle and the Jungle surrounding the lane creating a "All Mid" type fight with a bit more strategy than, "alright guys, lets just brute force forward"

Thirdly, How Cool would "Rank Summoner Icons" be with your Icon being a " ? " with your Rank colors

But what about re-rolls?

  • I've thought about that, and My quick thought on how to fix the re-rolls is when you Que in, and your champion is decided, your Summoner Icon in the Team preview becomes what role you Have/Had and if you wish to re-roll that champion it re-rolls into a Similar champion Based off Role, and when you trade your champion in the pregame lobby, your Role Icon goes with it. For Example. Player A, Gets Ahri and is thus given a Mage Icon. and Player B, gets Braum and Is given a Support Icon, the two Players Trade champions (and Icons) and Player A, Re-rolls Braum for whatever reason, Into a new Support

But what about Champion Pools/ Random Only Accounts?

  • I've thought about that also, and the only thing I can really come up with, is Since it would be a ranked mode, which would require lv 30, you could have the Player required to own a minimum # of champions, not including the free rotation Champions who would also be added to their pool,

Random Other Thoughts

  • you could allow players in the mode to trade for champions they don't own allowing Players a greater freedom to strategically align the randomness for a chance of victory
  • Another way to balance it could include each player being given 2 champion's instead of one, which they decide which to play, in the pre game lobby.

anyways, that's my 2 poro's about the matter, I feel this would accommodate players like myself, that want to "Play to win" while still being "Random" since apparently, Playing ARAM, as your main game mode is a foreign concept to some, and you get a Odd mix of people that Take ARAM seriously, and actually try to play well, and aim to win, and people that Only join a ARAM game thinking, "Dude, its just ARAM, who cares what I do"
